Preferred Employers Program

Florida Ready to Work

Florida Ready to Work takes the guesswork out of hiring. It is an innovative new employee credentialing program sponsored by the state of Florida. Florida Ready to Work gives participating employers a competitive edge by reducing employee turnover and training costs, saving you time and money in the hiring process.

The program tests job skills and work habits to help you identify applicants with the most potential. Florida Ready to Work job seekers arrive with a credential from the state of Florida that documents their qualifications. To earn the credential, a job seeker must take three assessments: Applied Mathematics, Reading for Information and Locating Information. These assessments are unique because they test the skills required for more than 85 percent of all jobs today. Florida Ready to Work also measures soft skills with a free Work Habits assessment that includes interpersonal interaction, listening and speaking, cooperation and respect, self-management, resource management, time management, quality management, customer service, and problem solving.

Florida Ready to Work includes another component, the Job Profile, which enables employers to better utilize the information contained in the credential.  A certified Florida Ready to Work Job Profiler collects job information from the company; interviews and focus groups with employees and managers; on-the-job observation of employees at work; and review and analysis of national job data. The result is a detailed, customized executive summary report listing all job-related tasks, key skills and corresponding skill levels, including applicable Florida Ready to Work test scores. Job profiles are Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) compliant and in more than 15 years have never been legally challenged.

By comparing job profile information with the scores earned by a Florida Ready to Work credential, employers can make more effective decisions about hiring, training and promotion. Contact a Business Services representative today for more information about how Florida Ready to Work can change the way you hire.
